RBB partners with experts to develop strong amicus briefs that address the most pressing issues in prison and immigration detention litigation, from qualified immunity to transgender rights to healthcare access. It also tracks conditions litigation and offer representation to uncounseled clients or small firm lawyers on appeal. Rights Behind Bars will use the knowledge it has gleaned from tracking the trends of prison law jurisprudence through thousands of lawsuits brought by incarcerated people to bring a series of high-profile lawsuits to address these trends of misconduct. Its goal is to convince courts that correctional institutions must fundamentally change to comply with existing law.
